SAN student-athletes Lucrezia Costa and Carla Bieg were finally able to begin games in the Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL) after Covid-19 delayed the start of their season.

Whilst their Essex team slipped to two defeats against title contenders Nottingham and London respectively, the duo have shown to be important players for their team.

Costa, a native of Rome, Italy who graduated from UMBC in 2020 put up 14 and 18 points respectively in the two games, proving to be a real threat on the low post.

Bieg, who comes to England from Barcelona, Spain via Seattle University hit 5 3 pointers across the two games, showing her ability from long range.
